I just realized I never showed you the first bundle. Hopefully I have a half-completed blog entry somewhere. I am so tired of being interupted and never getting back to what I was working on. It's always for something silly, like a neighbor with a piece of mis-delivered junk mail. Seriously. Leave it on the mat next time.

blues have been calling to me lately, too, and yes, aubergine, as well--so, so lovely. I'm a silk washer, too--I love how some of it shrinks to texture in cold water.

I too have a little brown tabby named Amber who came to me in the middle of a driving rain storm 14 years ago! She is showing signs of feline aging, thinness, more sleeping, etc. but she still rules the roost when it comes to my other one, named Genghis, a Maine Coon who out-weighs her by 20 pounds! Thanks for the lovely pic and sentiment.

The Journey loom has the advantage of being small, light and portable, but it requires dexterity to manipulate individual threads. You may also want to research Saori looms. There are various assistive modifications available.

What's important is that you do start weaving. It is a wonderful thing.

Be well!

"This is the loom where I weave my life."

Your writing moves me.
I'm a post-stroke ex-paramedic who can do so little
and who has so much undone
that I have no business even thinking about weaving
but last night on-line I discovered hand spinning with spindles
which struck me as achingly elemental
and because one thing leads to another
that led me to looking at simple looms this evening
and searching for information on the Journey seven-stick loom
brought your words to my eyes and my heart.

You have given me a lot to think about.

I wish you well.

I'm sorry for your loss. We lost one this summer and there are days that I catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye and think it's her.

Hey - great web site, just searching close to some blogs, appears to be a quite great platform you happen to be working with. I’m currently working with WordPress for a several of my sites but searching to vary one of them over to a platform much like yours as a trial run. Something in specific you would recommend about it?

Hi Kris,

I haven't woven enough on the loom to give it a comprehensive review. The tension control is basic. SInce it is a continuous warp, you can loosen each end and adjust the tension from the middle outward. I would recommend using some thin slats of wood between the warp and the frame so that you can easily loosen the entire warp a tiny bit at a time. Even strips of mat board will work--usually available for free at a framing shop. I think it will be a good basic tapestry loom.

Thanks so much for posting about the loom made by Ed Haag. I wished I had bought on myself at Rhinebeck. Can you tell me how you like weaving on it and does it have good tension control. I'm thinking using it for Tapestry weaving.
